Pathogen Control using SCD Probiotics in Recreational Water Bodies
By Julie Ann Ponder
Pathogens (such as e-coli) are introduced to recreational bodies of water in many ways, including leaking septic systems, land applied manure run-off, improper disposal of waste, and water fowl. The negative side-effects of these pathogens wreck havoc to beach and lake properties, people and pets. Increased federal, state and local regulations are being initiated in order to protect public health. In the United States alone, an estimated $30 billion of annual revenues are lost due to closed beaches.
In this presentation, Ms. Ponder will describe how SCD Probiotic technology provides a natural, sustainable solution to the problem. With the proprietary combination of a multi-strain probiotic, and the process of competitive exclusion, applications of SCP Probiotics out-compete the pathogens, creating a more healthy, stable environment.
