- Is it possible to just use part of the mother culture for 1 fermentation, and then keep the unused portion for future use? Do I have to activate the Mother Culture immediately after I have opened the container?
- Is the SCD Probiotics Mother Cultures™ I buy only useful if it has been “activated”?
- My SCD Probiotics Mother Cultures™ has a strong odor. Is that normal, or has the culture gone bad?
- New to SCD Probiotics Mother Cultures™ and looking for an introductory brewing kit? What products do you recommend to start brewing?
- What is a SCD Probiotics Mother Cultures™, Extended SCD Probiotics Mother Cultures™, SCD Probiotics Mother Cultures™ extended, SCD Probiotics Mother Cultures™ secondary solution? What are their differences?
It should not be tap water if you can help it. If un-chlorinated water is not available, let tap water stands in extension container for a couple of days to allow the chlorine to evaporate or use boiled water.
The rule of thumb is 30 days. If the pH rise to 3.8 use the remaining SCD Probiotics Mother Cultures™ as possible or within 30 days.
Activated SCD Probiotics Mother Cultures™ is best used for 7 days. It may last up for a month but should be used within this time.
SCD Probiotics Mother Cultures™ is ready when pH drops to 3.7 or below, gassing has stopped or negligent and the smell is slightly sweet and pickled.
When activating the SCD Probiotics Mother Cultures™, you just need 1 part of the mother culture, 1 part of the blackstrap molasses and 20 parts water. You keep the rest and make sure that you keep the container closed and airtight, store at room temperature and out of direct sunlight.
NO. Activating SCD Probiotics Mother Cultures™ does not affect the quality or usefulness of the organisms, only the quantity of them. Activating the culture provides an environment and food source for the organisms to multiply, and the culture extend.
The ph of the mother culture and your activation or extension, should be below 3.7. If it is, your SCD Probiotics Mother Cultures™ should be fine. You can expect your SCD Probiotics Mother Cultures™ to smell
sweet and pickled, not foul or putrid. If it does, the microbes may have been exposed to air or a contaminant, which can cause the SCD Probiotics Mother Cultures™ to go bad. If this is the case, it will smell obviously rotten. Always check the ph if the smell is questionable, and make sure to extend and store your SCD Probiotics Mother Cultures™ in a container with as little air space as possible.
The products for brewing are sold individually. It depends on your objective as to which products to buy. We offer three different mother cultures, i.e. SCD ProBio Balance ™ Original, ProBio Food™, SCD ProBio Balance ™ Plus. SCD ProBio Balance ™ Original is best use for industrial applications, particularly in agriculture. ProBio Food™ is intended for human consumption, safe for use in food preparation, as dietary supplement, or any other SCD Probiotics Mother Cultures™ task where human consumption may be possible. ProBio Balance™ Plus is a formulation that contains enhanced levels of phototrophic bacteria which has powerful detoxying, antioxidative, and anti-entropic properties that make the product particularly beneficial in agriculture, waste treatment, odor reduction, and industrial uses. All these three mother cultures can be brewed/extended to produce 20 times the initial volume.
There are no differences. They refer to only one process of activating the mother culture to create a greater volume of the product.
