SCD Probiotics Appoints Schmidt Vice President of Operations
Quality Control Assistant Manager and Business Development Manager Also Hired
(Kansas City, Missouri) July 15, 2011- SCD Probiotics, a Kansas City-based manufacturer
of probiotic products, is pleased to announce the appointment of Roger Schmidt as Vice
President of Operations. Schmidt will be responsible for all manufacturing / production
functions for the company, including quality control, material purchasing, inventory
management, packaging, shipping and receiving, and warehouse management. In
addition, Schmidt will oversee the facility expansion plans developed to keep pace with
the increase in company forecasted sales and revenues.
Schmidt brings an impressive list of credentials to SCD Probiotics, including his most
recent experience as Vice President, General Manager, for BIONOL CLEARFIELD, LLC,
a science and technology company producing bio-based chemicals and fuels from
renewable feedstock. Prior to that he was the General Manager for MGP Ingredients,
an Atchison, Kansas-based manufacturing firm. Schmidt received his Bachelor of Science
in Agricultural Economics and Marketing, and an Executive MBA from Benedictine
College.
Matthew Wood, CEO and Founder of SCD Probiotics, said, “We’re very excited to have
Roger as part of the SCD executive team . His experience and accomplishments will
help drive the business forward, and equip us to meet the increase in demand for our
technology-based products. ”
SCD Probiotics also announces two additional hires:
Matt Hearst, Business Development Manager
Mr. Hearst will be responsible for growing the European market for SCD Probiotics, by
identifying new sales opportunities and supporting the current customer base of SCD
licensees and distributors. European exports account for a significant piece of SCD
Probiotics’ revenues, and Hearst’s prior experience as a marketing and sales manager for
an international, multi-million dollar company provide the needed experience.
Kyle Hudson, Quality Assurance / Quality Control Assistant Manager
Mr. Hudson will be responsible for overseeing raw materials and supplies, ensuring SCD
Probiotics products are compliant with the US FDA’s General Manufacturing Process
(cGMP), and interacting with third-party certification organizations. His work at Trinity
Biotech (Kansas City, Missouri) in a similar QA/QC role will help strengthen the quality
manufacturing processes currently in place at SCD Probiotics.
SCD Probiotics’ ability to create new jobs and hire additional staff was aided by the
incentive package SCD Probiotics received earlier this year from the state of Missouri.
As a part of Missouri’s thriving animal-health corridor, SCD Probiotics received a $1.4
million package to help fund expansion plans and increase employment. These new
positions represent the first of many steps to help stimulate a life-science business that
produces probiotics for applications in agriculture, livestock operations, industrial waste
treatment and bioremediation, human health, and residential homes and gardens.
Based in Kansas City, Missouri, USA, SCD Probiotics harnesses nature’s ability to restore
personal health and the environment through the development of exclusive probiotic
technology. SCD Probiotics Technology utilizes beneficial microorganisms (good
bacteria) to repopulate toxic environments with healthy microbes in a variety of
consumer, industrial and commercial applications. For more information refer to
