SCD Probiotics named one of Kansas City’s top businesses in 2010

Kansas City, Missouri, USA (January 11, 2010) – KC Small Business magazine has named SCD Probiotics as one of the top 25 companies in Kansas City with under 25 employees. This is the ninth year for the recognition program, and more than 1,000 nominations were received. An independent panel of judges chose the winning companies. The Class of 2010 honorees (see attached list) average 13 employees, 11 years in business and over $2,000,000 in annual average revenues.

To be considered for the award, companies had to have 25 or fewer full-time (or full-time equivalent) employees, operate a for-profit business for three or more years and be located in the Greater Kansas City, Missouri (USA) area.

Companies were judged on:

  1. Financial stability
  2. Ability to overcome obstacles/adversity/challenges
  3. Community involvement, distinguishing or defining characteristic
  4. Company vision
Matthew Wood, CEO and founder, started the company in 1998 with the thought that beneficial microorganisms applied science - better known as probiotics - was a revolutionary technology that could change the world. “Nature provides the blueprint for a sustainable world. Now it’s up to us to build it,” says Wood.

SCD Probiotics has evolved over the last decade, from a distributor of other companies’ products to a developer and manufacturer of probiotic technology. The company has invested much of their financial capital in research and development and working with companies around the globe in a “beta” mode of operation. Field studies and trial data have demonstrated the positive impact of SCD Probiotics applications in a number of environments, particularly odor and pathogen control in wastewater treatment in livestock operations and rendering plants.

A black-tie gala celebration on Feb. 27, 2010 at the Downtown Marriott will honor the companies.

Based in Kansas City, Missouri, USA, SCD Probiotics harnesses nature’s ability to restore personal health & the environment™ through the development of exclusive probiotic technology. SCD Probiotics Technology utilizes beneficial microorganisms to repopulate toxic environments with healthy microbes - providing sustainable solutions for human health, home and garden, agriculture, livestock health, industrial and aquaculture applications.
