SCD Bio Klean Questions

What is SCD Bio Klean™?

SCD Bio Klean is an all-natural, probiotic cleaner containing powerful microbes and their metabolites that break down grease, grime and dirt. It neutralizes toxic substances and controls pathogens that cause disease.

Where is SCD Bio Klean applied for?

Use SCD Bio Klean for Industrial Cleaning Applications such as: drain maintenance, swamp coolers and dehumidifiers, sewer-line and septic-system maintenance, ponds, and lagoons. For Commercial Building / Hotel & Hospitality Maintenance Applications, food preparation surfaces and processing equipment, grease traps, mold and mildew, sinks and counters, degreasing tile, hardwood, linoleum, and other hard-surfaced flooring. For Household Cleaning Applications such as: drains, food waste buckets, toilets, sink, drain, and floors.

How do beneficial microbes in SCD Bio Klean work?

The proprietary blend of microorganisms in SCD Bio Klean repopulates the contaminated area (caused by bad microorganisms) with healthy microorganisms to create a clean, healthy environment. These microorganisms work together through a natural process to populate and consume composted materials, wastewater solids and sludge, grease traps, films, residue, and much more.

What makes SCD Bio Klean different from other commercial-cleaning products?

Most commercial-cleaning products contain chemicals, while SCD Bio Klean is a powerful probiotic cleaner that contains powerful microorganisms and their metabolites that break down grease, grime and dirt, and is free of chemicals. SCD Bio Klean contains powerful microorganisms, especially the phototrophic group, capable of growing in light and/or dark conditions of which the microbes will require different growth factors.

They can convert sunlight into cellular energy by absorbing atmospheric carbon dioxide or breakdown inorganic as well as organic carbon and convert it to biomass. This microbe can also degrade and recycle a variety of aromatic compounds that comprise lignin; the main constituent of wood and the second most abundant polymer on earth. Lastly, not only does SCD Bio Klean help manage levels of stored waste or grease, it is also safe for the environment downstream. It has no hazardous ingredients and is biodegradable because it’s made through a natural fermentation process and is not chemically synthesized or genetically engineered.

How will I use my SCD Bio Klean product?

This product is ready to use, it is concentrated and should be used as directed. Mix only as much as directed in the Usage Guide for each application. For best results, each dilution should be used within 30 days. For questions on specialized applications, please contact our Customer Service team.

How do I know if my SCD Bio Klean product has gone bad?

Checking the product’s pH is an easy way to determine whether the product is safe for use. Do not use the product if its pH is greater than 3.8 or less than 2.2. Also, do not use if the smell of the product does not have a sweet and sour smell. We highly suggest keeping the product at room temperature and out of direct sunlight. Lastly, the best by date in your label will guide you if your product is within its effective date.

How is SCD Bio Klean different from chemical products for cleaning?

They work in the opposite manner of chemical products frequently found in industrial settings, offices, restaurants, households, etc. While chemical cleaning products attempt to kill microorganisms without exception of good or bad microorganisms, probiotics are beneficial microorganisms used to repopulate the contaminated area with healthy microorganisms, creating a clean and healthy environment. The proprietary blend of microorganisms in SCD Bio Klean also neutralizes the toxic substances and controls disease-causing microorganisms.

What are some benefits achieved with SCD Bio Klean?

SCD Bio Klean works to control pathogens that cause disease like E. coli, Enterococcus or coliforms, reduce sludge production, control algae in ponds or lagoons, save energy in wastewater-treatment plants, reduce or replace the need for chemical cleaners, with proven filed results. It’s easy to use in industrial or household settings and it has a concentrated formula, providing cost-effective cleaning, safe to use around children, adult, livestock and pets. SCD Probiotics follows food grade cGMP guidelines enforced in USDA. SCD Bio Klean will not only clean but also remove odor caused by bad microorganisms.

I have mold in my garage. What concentration is needed for mold? How often should I treat the areas on drywall?

Wipe the mold-affected area first to get rid of any mold that might be on the surface. This will give the microbes less to fight off when they are first applied. Then, spray a 1:50 (SCD Bio Klean: de-chlorinated water) onto dry surface and scrub clean. For continuously damp areas, SCD Bio Klean may need to be applied on a regular basis.

Will the product kill molds? How does it exactly work on molds?

Nothing in our living solutions kills mold. SCD Bio Klean is a culture of live organisms that when put on a surface or introduced into an environment, will begin populating and consuming available resources that will successfully compete with the population of bad microorganisms through competitive exclusion.

However, in an environment in which mold has been dominating, SCD Bio Klean can provide a balance that, once the mold has been brought to lower numbers by scrubbing with SCD Bio Klean, water, or another natural cleaner, will change the environment so as to no longer support mold domination. That is why it works so well. Bleaches and other chemical solutions sterilize areas, (or at least chemically shock them for a while) leaving them open to re-population by mold spores which are always floating in the air. These chemicals not only shock the surface onto which they are applied, they continue to hurt many other systems as well - furthering the ecological balance which caused the problem in the first place. With SCD Bio Klean applied to an area instead, previously moldy surfaces are protected against re-population because the environment has been replaced by healthy, natural, competition.

What product can you recommend for toxic mold treatment?

We can recommend the SCD Bio Klean. It uses nature’s own design to break down and rid areas of pathogenic compounds which may be detrimental to the health and balance of an environment.

How do probiotics break down dirt?

Powerful microorganisms and their metabolites break down grease, grime, and dirt. In breaking down, inorganic as well as organic carbon are converted to biomass. When levels of stored waste or grease are managed, then there is a healthy, clean, and safe environment. Unlike chemicals, SCD Bio Klean cleans the underlying film that holds the dirt. A surfactant free formula helps in quick drying of surfaces. These two factors offer the unique possibility of reduced re-soiling.

How is SCD Bio Klean exactly different from SCD Odor Away?

SCD Bio Klean is an all-natural, industrial strength cleaner. SCD Odor Away is an all-natural, safe biological odor reducer containing exclusive microbes and their metabolites.

Is SCD Bio Klean effective in cleaning RV tanks?

RV tank owners’ problems are the presence of odor and sludge build-up. SCD Bio Klean not only eliminates the sludge in RV tanks, but also odor. In a separate case where odor is the main problem only, we can suggest treating odor with SCD Odor Away. Other than odor problem in RV tanks, please contact customerservice@scdprobiotics.com for specialized applications.

Does SCD Bio Klean degrade petroleum? How does it neutralize petroleum or other toxic substances?

SCD Bio Klean and its properties prevent mineral deposits by digesting harmful organic compounds (including petroleum) and breaking them down into smaller, less volatile compounds which are actually beneficial to the environment. Please contact customerservice@scdprobiotics.com for specialized applications.

How should I deal with the product sedimentation in the container?

To avoid sedimentation in larger containers, we recommend doing gentle stirring with a clean rod to avoid off gassing.

I still want to use chemical-cleaning agents for cleaning? Can I use them together with SCD Bio Klean? Any guideline?

In general, chemicals have various types and should be specified to check if it is fine to be used with SCD Bio Klean or if it would be detrimental to our good microorganisms. For example, chlorine-based chemicals are not recommended to go together with SCD Bio Klean. However, in contrast, it may not be the case always because some suggest using SCD Bio Klean after chemical application, to make the area healthy. Specialized applications need to be consulted with the SCD Technical Team for advice.

Would Bio Klean reduce the amount of biofilm on surfaces?

Yes, preferably in the long run the system will be biofilm-free and with good microorganisms only. Biofilm removal is a long and continuous process - this doesn't happen overnight, you need to make sure that you're including what is good for the system to ensure a healthy and pathogen-free environment.

Could you please provide usage/dilution guide for Bio Klean for cleaning kennels?

Bio Klean can be sprayed at 500ml – 1L with 10 liters chlorine free water. We suggest making the physical cleaning first. If any chemical is used in their routine, there should be at least 1-hour interval between chemical and Bio Klean application. Bio Klean should be applied after chemical; however, they may not need any chemical with Bio Klean usage.

We have 3 ponds treated with copper sulfate due to algal bloom. Algal bloom is no longer a problem but we’re wondering which probiotic product can deal with the decaying plant life.

For general information, copper sulfate kills the microorganisms. Depending on the ratio you applied into the ponds, it should result in copper build up in pond sediments. We suggest using Bio Klean for ponds but not with copper sulfate. Dilution of 1:10,000 is good to apply. This means diluting 3/4 tsp. of Bio Klean product per 10 gal. water.

We have quite high levels of E. coli on the pasture areas and wish to know which SCD product would be best suited to reducing the E. coli numbers?

SCD Bio Klean at a dilution of 1:500 would be better to fight E. coli. This means diluting 2 Tbsp. or 1.5 tsp. of SCD Bio Klean into 4 gallons or 1 gallon of water, respectively. Bio Klean can be used for all piggery and the diluted product can be sprayed on all surfaces including walls, floor, ceiling, surrounding environment, as well as in the pasture areas.

I’d like to use probiotics for a hot tub which is running a 104-degree temp. in place of chlorine to inhibit growth of organisms in the tub. Can probiotics be safe enough for the skin in such application?

Our microorganisms are sensitive to chlorine, as well as to high temperatures. This should depend on the chlorine level as well as the degree of temperature. However, around 100 degrees temp. they could be inactive (although there could be a smaller number of microorganisms that will be active). We have not tested the percentages of activity or inactivity. On the other hand, our products are safe for the skin when applied. For this application, we just can't guarantee the percentage of microorganisms that will be left in the hot tub, but it is always safe to try as our product is not only all-natural and safe for the skin, but it is as well considered to have a good effect. The product to water ratio that you can use as a start could be 1:100 to 1:500 dilution.

I have recently had a water test of my cistern. The total coliform count is 7 cfu per 100 ml. The limit for potable drinking is <1. However, for bathing purposes, the standard can be 500. I also notice that the water has a slight odor, which is annoying. Can I use probiotics to address this?

We suggest using SCD Bio Klean to reduce and eventually remove the odor as well as coliform count in your cistern. Since, we don't have info on the volume of your water tank, we recommend using a ratio of 1:1000 on the first week of application. This ratio can be reduced to 1:10,000 for following weekly application(s) or 1:5,000 ratio for following bi-weekly application(s). Further, please be informed that when you take water samples to a lab for bacterial count analysis; the total bacteria count will be high due to the good microorganisms in the product, but one thing is for sure per our experience – the coliform count will be less.

Is SCD Bio Klean the best product in your line for cleaning carpets? What range of dilution do you suggest?

Yes, SCD Bio Klean is the right product. Dilution ratio is 1:500, which means ¾ tsp. of Bio Klean diluted to 2 quarts non-chlorinated water.

Does it harm the microbes if Bio Klean will be applied in the morning or afternoon? The customer will be applying Bio Klean on the solarium’s windows where mold resides.

Yes, Bio Klean can be applied on solarium windows during the day. Make sure the area is dry with low moisture and some shade. Do not apply when the sun is at its strongest. Also, make sure to spray or wipe any excess liquid as too much moisture may invite new mold growth. Lastly, we recommend to scrub the windows first to remove any existing mold prior to applying our product.
