Some of the microorganisms in the product are heterotrophic bacteria, meaning they use organic substrates to get carbon for their growth and development. When there is no organic nitrogen source in a system, heterotrophic bacteria utilize ammonia and break it down into less harmful compounds, which are not putrefactive. Many household applications suggest the use of a spray bottle for application. Transfer the desired amount of the SCD Probiotics product into a clean spray bottle and dilute according to instructions. Tightly close the cap on the original SCD Probiotics bottle (this helps maintain the efficacy of the probiotics inside). In general, the product should be diluted and applied as needed until odor is eliminated. Specific for litter box and hockey gear it may be used as: (a) litter box, the pile must be frequently turned and according to the amount of litter present it must be properly diluted with probiotics, e.g. 2.5 Tbsp. per gallon with moisture control; (b) hockey gear, 1:50 1 tsp. per cup directly sprayed into or onto shoes/gear. Let dry. Re-apply as necessary.
